Hello Parrot Safaris, I am interested in the “5 Days Trekking Mount Kenya - Naro Moru Route” package (slug: 5-day-naro-moru-route-mount-kenya-trek). Please share more details about availability, pricing, and accommodation options.

Trek Overview

The Naro Moru Route approaches Mount Kenya from the western side and is one of the mountain's most direct trekking approaches.

The lower route passes through forest before rising through heath, moorland and the high-altitude terrain leading toward the central peaks.

Because the ascent is comparatively direct, careful pacing and acclimatisation are important.

The programme targets Point Lenana as its highest planned trekking objective.

Reaching Point Lenana remains conditional on weather, altitude response, health, trail conditions and the guide's judgement.

Batian and Nelion are technical climbing objectives and are not included.

Highlights

  • Enter Mount Kenya through the Naro Moru side.
  • Trek through several distinct vegetation zones.
  • Pass through the Met Station corridor.
  • Experience high-altitude moorland scenery.
  • Allow time for acclimatisation before the summit attempt.
  • Attempt Point Lenana when conditions allow.
  • Descend through the western side of Mount Kenya.
  • Trek with a mountain guide.
  • Return to Nairobi after completing the route.

Who This Trek Is Best For

This route suits active travellers who want a direct western approach to Mount Kenya and are comfortable with sustained hiking at altitude.

Because the Naro Moru approach gains altitude relatively directly, travellers should take acclimatisation and guide instructions seriously.

Why Choose the Naro Moru Route?

Naro Moru provides a direct western approach to Mount Kenya and passes through a clear progression from lower forest into open high-altitude terrain.

It suits trekkers who want a distinct alternative to Sirimon while still targeting Point Lenana rather than the mountain's technical climbing peaks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this itinerary use Sirimon?

No. Package 12 is the Naro Moru Route trekking product. The legacy Parrot page contains conflicting route text, so this rebuilt package follows the approved Naro Moru catalogue identity.

Is Point Lenana guaranteed?

No. Weather, altitude response, trail conditions and guide judgement determine whether the attempt continues.

Is this a technical climb?

No. Batian and Nelion are not part of this programme.

Why is acclimatisation important?

Mount Kenya involves substantial altitude, and a controlled ascent helps reduce unnecessary altitude stress.

Which gate is used?

The trekking route uses the Naro Moru side of Mount Kenya.

Are trekking poles included?

No, unless specifically added to the quotation.

What accommodation is used?

Mountain accommodation or camps are confirmed in the final programme.

Is mountain insurance important?

Appropriate travel and mountain-rescue insurance is strongly recommended.

Can the route change?

Yes. Weather, trail conditions, altitude and safety considerations may require adjustments.

What does it cost?

Both catalogue rates are On Request.
